I used to live in the Philippines. Every summer when I was a kid, my grandparents, cousins and (sometimes) uncles/aunts would stay at my grandparents’ house for the summer.
The house is located in a rural farm area 3-4 hours away from the city I lived in. Right by the main road. There aren’t a lot of houses and their backyard was just bare land. My cousins and I would sleep in the living room during our whole stay. The house didn’t have a ceiling. Just bare beams and the roof itself. Most nights, we would find bats right by these beams sleeping right above us. All the lights are usually off and the street lamps weren’t bright enough to reach inside the house. To summarize, the house is pretty creepy.
During one of my visits, only a cousin and my grandpa came since my grandma was already there (I’m not sure why my other cousins didn’t come). Since there was only two of us, my cousin and I decided to sleep in one of the rooms with a twin bed. The room didn’t have a door, just an entrance with a curtain. The bed was right beside a window with no blinds or curtain and faced the bare land behind the house. I didn’t like sleeping by the window because I was scared to see something looking in.
Anyways, I woke up in the middle of the night one night. The moonlight was bright enough that it lit up the room; That’s when I saw my grandma standing by the room entrance/curtain opening. I called out to her asking why she was standing there, but she didn’t answer back. I called out again, still no answer. The more I looked at her I realized she had no face, but I knew it was her as she was wearing the same nightgown she went to sleep in.
After realizing all this, I tried to wake my cousin up to switch spots, but she was dead asleep. I squeezed myself in her spot as she was sleeping by the window to try and get away from this thing. (I know I’m terrible 🤣)I closed my eyes and tried to force myself back to sleep.
It must have worked since I woke up and it was morning. I was all alone in the room, the curtain by the entrance was drawn closed. I found my cousin and asked her if she ever woke up in the middle of the night and she said no. Then I asked my grandma if she ever came to visit our room the night before and she said no too. I told her what happened, but she brushed it off.
Later on, I found out that other family members would see my late great grandma/grandpa’s ghosts around the house. I know I saw my grandma’s doppelgänger that night, but it’s hard to tell without a face to match.
